750mc Hot Hatch 2018 Donington race 2

Starting on pole this time, and I didn't get the rocket start that I did in the first race. Always seems to be the way, do well from a crap position and then do crap from a good position! Steve was always going to get a belter, he always gets a cracking start in the second race for some reason! A really enjoyable start to the race and the car was semi behaving itself. Tyres were well past their best after a seasons use and the cars balance was a little iffy, but not too bad. I couldn't let go of the wheel though, the pull was still too vicious and under braking it really wanted to pull into the pit lane on its own. Still, its amazing what you can do with a car that obviously has a geometry issues and something massively out of kilter. Does make you wonder how much worrying about that last half mm of toe really matters when your doing your setup. The sun was super low and it really make spotting braking points and corner entries tougher than it needed to be, so running steady was the main thing I had to do and make sure I collect max points for the championship. Last race weekend was coming up after and I was still behind Steve in the tables at this point after the poor Cadwell and Silverstone DNF's. Mathematically I could take the Championship, but I had to win everything from now on and take the extra point for fastest lap.........in the words (and accents) of Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar. Game on!
