Welcome to my new YouTube series appropriately entitled Nuts & Bolts! Here in this series we will be covering the nitty gritty details of the mechanical world, from high level design and building concepts all the way down to the - you guessed it... Nuts & Bolts! To kick it off, this video covers the basics: Threadlocker (AKA Loctite). Threadlocker is essential for ensuring bolts do not come loose due to vibrations in a mechanical assembly. This is often due to spinning components such as motors, transmission shafts, axles, etc. In this video we cover the differences between various threadlockers including Blue, Red, and Green. We also go over Cyanoacrylate (better known as Super Glue) and how it can be used to fasten metal bolts into plastic parts (even 3D printed parts)!
