In this DIY repair video we go thru how to replace an automatic transmission (or more accurately transaxle) gear position shift knob assembly on the Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevrolet HHR, or Pontiac G5 models in order to address a broken shift knob button. This is a pretty common failure on these GM car models, where the button to press when changing gears breaks off of the knob assembly internally. The vehicle illustrated is a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt LS. However, this shift knob replacement procedure will be the same for any Chevy Cobalt, Chevy HHR, or Pontiac G5 in the years this video covers. Also, in addition, the approach should apply to the Pontiac Pursuit and Pontiac G4 as well.
