It IS possible to make a good hypertrophy program using SIMILAR principles that are found in SS, as long as the glaring mistakes are fixed, namely the almost total lack of isolation movements, lack of focus on "show" muscles, obsession with the Big 3 etc etc... This would not only improve novice's results, but also greatly improve their experience and make it much more likely that they would stick around during the intermediate stage, where the real fun begins.
