Today I thought I'd show the geothermal pipes, where they are located and how they work. There are 3 sets of pipes. First set: 12 pipes (4 inch in diameter) exit Greenhouse from the NE Corner and drop into a trench running 230 feet thru the yard (not under the Greenhouse) and come back into the Greenhouse at the NW Corner of the main Grow Room. A blower sits on top of one side of the pipes and circulates the air. Second set: 12 pipes (4 inch in diameter) exit Greenhouse from the NE Corner of the "Suction Room" and fall into the same trench as the First Set. They travel about 50 - 60 feet and exit the trench and come above ground. I have covered the pipes with a garbage can that I have drilled holes for ventilation. These Pipes are best for cooling from Fall til Spring. A Fan I have mounted on the Wall between the Suction Room and the Main Growing Room pushes air from the Suction Room to the Grow Room drawing air from these pipes, pulling it into the suction room and then pushing it (because the fan is on) into the Grow Room. Third Set: Because the air coming from the Suction room into the Grow room, this creates pressure in the grow room and the air needs somewhere to go. This third set of "Vent Pipes" gives that air somewhere to go. The 12 pipes are located on the SE side of the Greenhouse. They exit the Greenhouse into a trench that travels about 8 feet and exits the trench into the open air. As I show in the Video, I have put these pipes back into the ground and trenched over to my Shop Building and these pipes now come into my Shop Building. This allows me to use the cool air from the Shop Building during Summer to help cool the Greenhouse while still allowing the Vent Pipes to work as originally intended during Fall thru Spring but now allows me to use that hot air to warm the Shop Building during that time. I hope you find this update useful. As always, comments and suggestions very welcome.
