"Witches, Vampires, and Facism" explores common themes in what we today consider atrocities in history. It seeks to explore how circumstance can make witchhunters and fascists out of ordinary people, and how we are still haunted by those same circumstances today. Jason Lin is a junior at Moorestown Friends School. In his free time, he likes reading novels, learning about history, and doing theatre. Some of his favorite books are Six Of Crows, Scythe, Song of Achilles, and Sunrise On the Reaping. He also likes listening to the Crane Wives and Madilyn Mei’s music. His talk will focus on the history of scapegoating as well as its psychological roots. It will seek to explore much of the why behind atrocities like fascism and the Salem Witch Trials, and how they still haunt all of us even today. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
