Mr. Hamlin has BA degrees in Psychology and Drama from Yale University, and MFA from The American Conservatory Theater and was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for acting in 1977. He is perhaps best known for his sustainable ’plant-dyed‘ red carpet gowns. Jeff takes his inspiration from the dressmakers of the Civil War period who worked with what was in front of them, fashioning beautiful gowns that were later taken apart to recreate new dresses – sustainability born out of necessity. With his company Prophetik, Jeff combines a dandyish, rock ’n’ roll aesthetic with a robust sustainable philosophy, never compromising his ethical principals or his style credentials. He did a collaboration with Historic Environment Scotland creating a collection out of Scottish Textiles that was shown on catwalk at Edinburgh Castle.
