But that has not proven effective for me at all. I would still go through the motions of 'caring' for someone or something else but it all felt very performative and would usually leave me at the very least, disgruntled and peeved, and at most, trigger a rage fest (lol). And so I decided that other people could wait. They probably didn't want none of my poor energy anyways. In the meantime, I'd work on first being able to stand myself, and then inching towards having more love and compassion for myself. And fortunately, it became natural to love and care for other people around me as well. I was also able to acknowledge and genuinely have more gratitude for the love and care that others were pouring into me, which in turn made me realize how much I had taken things for granted before. To a certain extent, I probably still do, take some things for granted, that is. But hey, we live and we learn. Let's continue exploring our fears so we can free ourselves from them.
