This weekend is your chance to catch "The Jhal Muri Master of London" (Mr Angus Denoon). He will be serving up the deliciousness this weekend: Sat 12th & Sunday 3th October 2024, taking place at the Durga Puja event in Swiss Cottage Library in Camden. "Everybody Love, Love Jhal Muri Express" is without any shadow of doubt the original Jhal Muri Master of London; often imitated but never equalled or bettered. For his stall, he uses authentic Indian equipment & items such as: Mugs, Lemon Juice Press, Indian Knife, original Indian Ingredients, Bombay Onion & Cucumber cutting & chopping techniques, even his display signs are sign-written & created in India, which all goes to illustrate the love, care and attention to detail that quite rightfully earns him the title "The Jhal Muri Master of London". Watch as in awe as Mr Angus Denoon visually articulates that "Every movement has a purpose, every action has a reaction." JHAL MURI RECIPE INGREDIENTS: DRY ITEMS: Puffed rice cooked in sand (like rice crispies) Roasted peanuts Moong dal Chana dal Sev (made from chickpea flour). FRESH ITEMS: Green Chillies Freshly Chopped Coriander Coconut Ginger Chopped Bombay Red Onion Cucumber Sprouted Mung Beans SPICES: Chaat Masala Roasted Cumin Indian Lemon Mustard Oil Tamarind sauce (made with palm sugar & a few spices) Has been known to use: Amchoor (dried green mango powder) Coriander powder Chilli powder All mixed together & then served in an "Authentic" cone. We absolutely love this man, as he holds a very special place in our heart because he serves what we think is street food perfection. He serves up the popular spicy Bengali snack (Jhalmuri) at a street cart called "Everybody Love Love Jhal Muri Express" at various locations. (Jhal Muri is very similar to the Gujarati Bhel Puri). Jhal Muri is Kolkata's Favorite Snack The attention to detail of his stall is astonishing because he uses authentic utensils and equipment + the ingredients are just as authentic and his masterful cutting techniques used are truly mesmerising, in fact we have never ever seen anyone else in the UK selling in this "Desi" style of mobile setup (just like you see back in the "Desh") You can go many times to India and love it every moment of your time spent there, (but you're always sad in the knowledge that India only exists in India and nowhere else) the sights you see, the sounds you hear, the people you meet; all serve to feed you not just physically but also emotionally and spiritually. So when we come across people such as "Mongo Denoon" we humbly raise our hat and take a bow because we have not only just got something to eat but we've also been given a reminder of dear Mother India. A special thank you to Angus, who very much welcomed me and graciously allowed me a privileged glimpse into his Indian Street Food kitchen to do the videoing even though he was extraordinarily busy. He is a "street food troubadour," so if you want to know where he will be next, look out for messages of his schedule on his social media pages (or you could message him).
