Skiing Again After 15 Years | My First Time Back on the Slopes in Japan

We visited Hirayu Onsen for the very first time, tucked away in the snowy mountains of Gifu Prefecture. While my wife took a private ski lesson to build her confidence on the slopes, I found myself stepping back onto skis after more than 15 years. It felt unfamiliar at first, but also deeply nostalgic — like reconnecting with a part of myself I hadn’t visited in a long time. This was also my first time skiing in Japan, which made the experience even more special. The atmosphere at Hirayu Onsen Ski Resort felt calm and unhurried. Surrounded by winter forests and mountain views, it was the perfect place to rediscover skiing at my own pace.
