Shengjin Pagoda Streets Xihu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi, China 2023 June Shengjin Pagoda is located at No. 165 on the east side of Shengjin Pagoda Street, Xihu District, Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province, China. Outside the Jinxian Gate of the original Nanchang Ancient City, it is an octagonal seven-story pavilion-style brick pagoda. It was first built in the Tang Dynasty and rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty. The Shengjin Pagoda was built during the Tianyou period of the Tang Dynasty (904-907). Legend has it that when the pagoda was being built, a monk unearthed an iron letter, four turns of gold rope, three ancient swords, three hundred gold bottles and relics, hence the name "Golden Rope Pagoda". It collapsed in the 48th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty, was rebuilt in the 52nd year of Emperor Kangxi's reign, and was completed the following year. There is a folk song in Nanchang that goes: "The tower is broken and the gourd is cut, and the tower is broken and the chapter is broken." The legend that the Shengjin Pagoda can suppress fires and eliminate disasters has made it an ideal Feng Shui pagoda in Nanchang. It has gone through ups and downs but still stands. The most recent large-scale renovation was in 2000. It is one of the best preserved ancient buildings in Nanchang. Since 2002, the Shengjin Pagoda Temple Fair has been held here every autumn. In recent years, the government has renovated and planned to build the Shengjin Pagoda Historical and Cultural District, hoping to make this area one of Nanchang's tourist attractions. The district's blend of modern and traditional atmosphere is very interesting.
