Yumm!! We made homemade "Marsh Mallows" from a plant!

No one ever believes us when we say marshmallows were originally made from the roots of Mallow plants found in our marsh!! So to prove this - we collected roots from the mallow plant off the Coastal Explorations dock, found an original mallow recipe, and made our very own homemade marshmallows (or... more like fluff)!!! Ingredients: 75 ml of water 1/2 cup suger 1/3 cup corn syrup 2 TBSP mallow root egg whites cornstarch Instructions: 1. Boil water, sugar, and corn syrup to 249F 2. Mix mallow root with 1TBSP of water. Let sit so it becomes a paste/slimey 3. When close to temperature, whisk egg white until firm peaks 4. Continue to whisk while adding the HOT sugar syrup. Let it cool to more of a "body/room" temperature 5. Add mallow root paste to mixture. Whisk till all of it is incorporated. 6. Pour mixture into pan lined with wax paper and cornstarch. Let it sit & hope it turns out great!! :) Enjoy by itself or with hot chocolate!
