In the latest instalment of our TOG Talk series, join our Inclusion Lead, Seamo Teare as he talks to us about why he's so passionate about the benefits of being outdoors for children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). He talks about the therapeutic and sensory benefits of being outdoors as part of their learning as well as the importance of child-led play in the great outdoors. Seamo is so committed to this cause that over lockdown, he put the finishing touches to a course that he has been working on for years, aimed at developing and designing best practice for working outdoors with children & young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). Whatever kind of space you have available whether it’s a school field, a woodland, a wildlife corner or something more established, this course aims to provide the framework to develop and design inclusive practice for young people with Autism and Neurodiversity. This exciting new course is going through the process of accreditation with awarding body ITC First and has been endorsed by a number of stakeholders in the world of autism and education.
