After seeing 4014 depart from it's first inspection stop at Canyon in Cajon pass, we continued on to Victroville and the high desert portion of the chase. Location 1: The consist slowly arrives at the Amtrak station in Victorville where a massive crowd has gathered to see it. I had to hold my camera up on it's tripod to get a decent shot of it. Location 2: Stopped just outside the Victorville Narrows, we get a chance to pace 4014 on the National Trails Highway (Route 66) all the way to Oro Grande. Because we got out of Victorville early, we were able to scout out a spot and get ahead of the mad house that was behind us. The line of cars behind us was at least 2 miles long! Location 3: After the pacing, we went ahead and came up on this location located just outside of Oro Grande. This was the last we saw of the train on the old highway due to the long line of cars that was following it. From there we back tracked and got on the I-15. Location 4: The train arrives at the Harvey House in Barstow where it will make it's final inspection stop of the day. After this, it will continue on to Yermo where it will lay over for the night. While the consist is stopped, a westbound BNSF intermodal passes on the next track with an unpatched warbonnet Dash 9-41CW #940!
