This is Week 2 of my journey to run a 30 mile ultra by the time I turn 30. I’m not a professional athlete. I’m a dad, a husband, and I work a regular 9–5. The question I’m trying to answer with this whole project is simple: Can a normal person train for something most people never attempt? This week was mostly about managing fatigue and staying consistent. I missed Wednesday’s workout after being up most of the night with my son, but everything else stayed on track. Between running, CrossFit, and the growing training volume, I’m starting to feel the grind a little more. Nothing crazy happened this week — but that’s kind of the point. This series is about showing the real process of building toward an ultra, not just the highlight moments. Training weeks like this are where consistency actually gets built. Follow along as I document 52 weeks of training leading up to a 30 mile ultramarathon.
