Lack of amenities plagues Nagaland govt schools

Despite the affordable fees and pro-education policies, most government-run schools in Nagaland suffer unsystematic staffing pattern, poor infrastructure, increasing drop-out rate and parents disinterest in their wards’ studies. While keeping the focus on need of basic facilities for both the students and the teachers, this report highlights the linking disheartening government-run school results to poor foundational literacy and the need for special attention on primary education. The story is reported by Nurheni under the National Foundation for India (NFI) Media Fellowship for independent journalist. For the fourth round of its media fellowship programme, NFI granted the fellowship to six multimedia journalists to report in #Nagamese. The fellowships were offered in collaboration with The Morung Express.
