35028 'Clan Line' along the West Coastway with "The Bath & Bristol Christmas Express" - 14/12/2024

Hauling its final train of 2024, Merchant Navy Class no 35028 'Clan Line' would work Railway Touring Company's "The Bath & Bristol Christmas Express" from Three Bridges to Salisbury via the West Coastway Line & return, the lack of time for servicing at Bristol meant diesel haulage worked the train from Salisbury to Bristol & return inbetween the steam legs Initially starting out at Hassocks this wasn't to be due to getting totally wiped out by a service train, so the first location sees 'Clan Line' leaving its water stop at Preston Park from Millers Road as it heads away for the short section into Hove, an extra extended stop in Hove meant we could overtake the train and catch our next shot as 35028 heads over the River Adur just after Shoreham on Sea, the train is next seen taking on the single line section between Fareham and Botley on Funtley Lane enroute to its next water stop at Hedge End, finally for the outward the Pacific powers through the foot crossing west of Mottisfont & Dunbridge on the last part of the trip into Salisbury With 'Clan Line' spending a good 7hrs in the bay platform at Salisbury it wasnt until just after 7:30pm when we captured the Bulleid for one last time, this time storming through Mottisfont & Dunbridge station at the start of its return run and what a show it was!
