Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) has been developed as a behavioral intervention to help people learn strategies to live life more in the present, more focused on important values and goals, and less focused on painful thoughts, feelings, and experiences. The work involved in providing Crisis Prevention services can produce stress, burnout, and can be inherently challenging. This session will provide a brief overview of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), the six core processes, and how they can be used both clinically and professionally. This session will also introduce the Hexaflex and Triflex models, and how these concepts can be applied to everyday Crisis Prevention Services. The aim of this session is to provide a model for enhancing Crisis Prevention services, utilizing the six core processes of ACT, and how to incorporate a new approach across personal, professional, and clinical situations.
