11 Coffin Bay to Adelaide - February 2020

When we arrived in Coffin Bay after crossing the Great Australian Bight it was still mid winter. So we decided to pause for a while and wait for some warmer weather. Sue had a sibling get together to go to at Magnetic Island, and some friends asked me to sail with them from Thursday Island at the tip of Cape York, to Tual in Indonesia, a distance of about 1200K or 650 nautical miles. After that we drove up as far as Harvey Bay and Bundaberg looking at real estate. Then near the end of 2019 it was back to Coffin Bay, to refurbish Free Ascent and get ready to continue on sailing to Adelaide and beyond. This video covers the trip from Coffin Bay to Adelaide, where we left the boat in Marina Adelaide, we thought briefly, to go to Dover, Tasmania to take possession of a newly purchased house. But the COVID incident locked us down in the new house for almost a year before we could get back to Free Ascent and sail her down to Port Esperance at Dover.
