MAAH DAAH HEY 100 RACE RECAP | THE BOOTLEG MILES

This is my race recap for the Maah Daah Hey 100. It took me 6 years to get back to the starting line of the Maah Daah Hey 100 as a competitor. Between those years a lot happened, I was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder type 1, and I had to relearn how to live life. By 2023, I felt like had a really good grasp on Bipolar and was full stride in mental health advocacy in the bike world when a near catastrophic mountain bike accident made me relearn life again. So when I had enjoyed a relatively smooth build up to this year’s race, and someone asked me if I was ready, I replied “I have never felt more ready for an event in my life.” The day was as perfect as it could have been for a backcountry race. We finished, neither of us hit the deck and we went really fast in the second half. I had an amazing riding partner, we had an amazing SAG team who were doubling as the production crew and got across the finish line! At the finish line my family surprised me. Surround yourself with people who support you. Put yourself out there so you can find community. And if you need help, go get help. We can all get up and fight as long as we remember we are loved.
