Development of a narow gauge mallet in 5 inch gauge in compound steam action.Documentation over 7 years optimization.First step was non compound action.Very poor function.Then converting to compound steam with better performance.Then step by step optimization.The blast pipe and a double peticoat brought much improvement.The compound steam colector was heated separatly with thermal conduction of boiler heat.So Ihave more steam and less water in the steam. The pressure with throttle full open is 6 bar of the high pressure part and 3 bar of the low pressure side. The performance is better than a comparable 2 cylinder locomotive with similar boiler.
