This is a quick demonstration how the new Sony A5100 (with FE28-70mm at 28mm/F3.5) Continuous AF in Movie mode works with and without Center Lock-on AF where AF drive speed is Fast, Normal, Slow and AF Track Duration is High and Normal on the touch screen. The Focus Area was set to Center, but the behavior would have been exactly the same in Zone and Wide focus area modes as well. Pre-AF was switched off. When Center Lock-on AF is switch on, and when a target is touched on the screen, the camera tries to draw a rectangle around the object and keeps it in focus, even when it moves around in the frame. The user can swith off lock-on with touching the small "flying box X" icon on the top right section of the screen. When Center Lock-on AF is switched on, and when a target is touched on the screen, the camera moves the focus on the point, but unfortunately does not mark the focused are with any rectangle (very weird). What is interesting that after the touch, the text "Spot Focus" is blinking for about 5 seconds and then the camera changes to MF mode. After reading the manual, I expected that the camera draws a rectangle when "Disp.cont.AF area" is set, but I haven't noticed any effect of this setting. This video does not show the behavior of Flexible Spot focus area in movie mode.
