Sarvam Datta Mayam This song is an ode to Lord Dattatreya, written by Brahmarish Mohanji in Palakkad, Kerala (India) in February, 2018. Dattatreya lived on Earth as the simultaneous incarnation of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and was the Yugacharya (or teacher of the era) of Dwarpara Yuga, during which Lord Krishna was incarnated. Natesh Ramsell composed the music at Mohanji’s request. (More on the creation below.) The main phrase “Sarvam Datta Mayam” means “Everything is Datta”, with “Datta” referring to Lord Dattatreya. Mind, intellect, ego, consciousness – all are Datta. Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva all – all are Datta. Time, Land, Earth, Heaven – all are Datta. Brahma, the five elements and Truth – all are Datta. The states of waking, dream, deep sleep and turiya (4th state) – all are Datta. Shiva (Shambho) and everything is Datta. Vishnu (Hari) and everything is Datta. Mother Durga and everything is Datta. Revered Guru Datta is everything. A note from Natesh: “One morning when I had the great blessing to be spending some days with Mohanji in Palakkad, he informed me that he was going to write some verses in praise of Dattatreya and he would like me to create the music for it, which was a huge honor and blessing for me. What seemed like about 5 minutes later he emerged from his room with the verses ready and gave them to me already printed out on paper for me to work with. While I’ve composed a couple hundred chants, it is quite a different thing to just be sitting quietly at home and “downloading” some chant from Source at my leisure and being directed by one’s Guru to compose music for something he has written. With his grace and blessing, I had the music ready to go the next day and was very pleased – and a bit relieved – when he approved of the composition. “The audio for this track is taken from a longer recording, piecing together a beginning, middle and ending section to create a unique recording that has just one round of the verses of the song rather than the 3 rounds done in the original, 11-12 minute recording.” About Mohanji: Mohanji brings awareness about the highest knowledge many are unaware of, in the most simple and practical ways.
