The Storebælt Bridge represents large-scale structural engineering where span length, wind loads, marine conditions, and navigation constraints are resolved through advanced bridge design. The structure demonstrates the capacity of modern civil engineering to create stable long-span systems across open sea environments. The Storebælt Fixed Link crosses the Great Belt strait between the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen. The project is owned by the Danish state and operated by Sund & Bælt Holding A/S. The connection consists of two main elements: the East Bridge (a suspension bridge for road traffic) and the West Bridge (a combined road and railway bridge), together with a railway tunnel under the eastern strait. The total length of the fixed link is about 18 km. The East Bridge is one of the longest suspension bridges in the world, with a main span of 1624 m and pylons rising 254 m above sea level. The deck clearance for ship traffic is approximately 65 m, allowing passage of large vessels through one of the busiest maritime routes between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. Opened in 1998, the project significantly reduced travel time across Denmark and became a key element of the Scandinavian transport corridor connecting continental Europe with Sweden and Norway. The bridge crosses open marine landscapes of the Great Belt, an area characterized by strong winds, deep navigation channels, and intensive shipping routes. #Storebælt #Bridge, #Denmark – #Scandinavian #Bridges #asmr
