Oasis Church | Promised, Risen & Returning Series In this opening message of our Easter series, Promised, Risen & Returning, we begin by looking both forward and backward in the story of redemption. Scripture reveals Jesus as the Promised Messiah, the Risen Christ, and the Returning King. The message begins with a powerful vision from Revelation, where the apostle John encounters the risen Christ who declares, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive forever and ever.” This glimpse reminds us that Jesus is not only the Savior who came, but the King who will return in glory. From there we travel back nearly 700 years before the birth of Jesus to one of the clearest prophetic passages in Scripture: Isaiah 52–53. In this passage the prophet Isaiah describes the Suffering Servant who would bear the sins of humanity. Isaiah foretold a Messiah who would be despised and rejected, pierced for our transgressions, crushed for our iniquities, and whose wounds would bring healing. Long before the crucifixion, God revealed the plan that Jesus would become the ultimate sacrifice for sin. Under the Old Testament system, sacrifices had to be made repeatedly for the sins of the people. But Isaiah points toward a different sacrifice—one that would come once and for all. Jesus became the New Way and the fulfillment of God’s promise, offering His life so that humanity could be redeemed. The Old Testament promise is not discarded by the New Testament; it is fulfilled through Jesus Christ. From Genesis to Revelation, the story of Scripture points to Him. As we journey toward Easter, we are invited to reflect on the incredible hope found in Christ—the One who was promised, the One who has risen, and the One who will return.
