The treatment landscape of metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer is evolving for the first time in last 30 years. In recent years, the role of chemotherapy has changed in prostate cancer treatment. We have several non-chemotherapy options available in Australia to improve survival of patients with hormone-sensitive metastatic disease. The goals of new systemic therapies are to prolong survival, minimise complications and maintain quality of life. Dr Laeeq Malik is a Staff Specialist in Medical Oncology at The Canberra Hospital since 2015. He has a background in clinical research with a particular interest in conducting early phase clinical trials. His clinical experience covers a broad range of solid tumour malignancies with special clinical interest in early phase clinical trials, breast cancer and urogenital malignancies.
