The West Haldimand General Hospital and Hospital Foundation has received its largest donation in history at $1.4 million all thanks to the Hagersville Catch the Ace Draw. Hagersville’s Catch the Ace event saw thousands lined up for 45 weeks as jackpot hopefuls added their names to the list of potential lottery winners. The event run by the Hagersville Lions Club and Hagersville Rocks Music Festival Committee would donate half the money raised to local charities, including that made to West Haldimand General Hospital. The donation is set to upgrade clinical patient equipment, invest in state-of-the-art medical equipment and improve patient care. The Hospital says that there are five areas that the money will support, including a new x-ray suite, an upgrade to mammography equipment, state of the art pharmacy equipment and technology and an Intelliguard pharmacy kit and tray system and Intelliguard anesthesia station. Any remaining funds will go towards the top priorities inside of the Emergency Department, Inpatient Unit and the hospital’s laboratory. Speaking on the donation, Tanya Ribbink the co-chair of Hagersville Rocks Music Festival, says the Catch the Ace Team chose to support the local hospital as they see it as the “Heartbeat of Hagersville.”
