Imperfect Perfection | CSX Y121 and L054 (7/1/2025)

On the 1st of July I'd head out for a chance at getting one of 2 remaining former Pan Am Railways GP40's MEC 345 on CSX Y121. I would shoot Y121 with CSXT 2780 (GP38-2) leading the crawl and MEC 345 (GP40-2) trailing behind it. This would not be the last of 345 I would see this month but that's for a later video. I would then set my sights on familiar territory by going for L054 as the schedule it had at the time allowed for both Y121 and L054 to be caught in the same day. L054 would have MEC 503 (GP40-2LW) leading this second crawl I would chase, and MEC 517 (GP40-2LW) trailing. I would chase to Blue Rock Rd in Leeds, ME and then chased the return trip back with the same power starting at Curtis Corner and ending with a wonderful grade struggle at Main St in Livermore Falls, ME. This is my favorite chase (the L054 half in particular) I have gone on this year by far, and I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it!
