Hisuian Lilligant is a Pokemon who I have seen a lot of success with lately in Scarlet & Violet VGC. In previous vgc seasons, the team I chose for this battle solely relied on Trick Room setting up in order to get something going. While I was able to get away with not having Trick Room to my advantage late in battles a few times and get a win, I felt that I was getting too one-dimensional with my team. So anytime I came across say, a Grimmsnarl with Taunt, Calyrex with its own Trick Room, or Farigiraf with Imprison, it was hard to get into a rhythm and I was faced with an uphill battle almost right from the start. Hisuian Lilligant, however, has been an invaluable addition for this team and has provided a new wrinkle with the move After You (I am aware other Pokemon can learn this move as well), which increases priority for slower Pokemon and allows them to move first. This is huge if you plan on running slower Pokemon with powerful spread moves, such as Torkoal or Groudon, without having to rely on Trick Room. With this Hisuian Lilligant build, I can now treat Trick Room as more of a layer for my team rather than the key, and instead have a Trick Room pair in reserve, or vice versa. Just make sure you watch out for Taunt or Fake Out when using After You, and Wide Guard when running spread moves. Additionally, Hisuian Lilligant packs a punch with Leaf Blade (my favorite move!) and is able to double her already good speed with Chlorophyll when paired with a sun setter such as Koraidon, Torkoal, Ninetales, and Groudon. This, in my opinion, makes Hisuian Lilligant an excellent partner for both slow and fast Pokemon. If you plan on running a sun setter, another thing to be on the look out for is Pokemon with Drizzle such as Kyogre, or Prankster Rain Setters such as Tornadus, both of whom I've seen A LOT of in the current meta. You'll see that my opponent started with double Fake Out, while I countered with double Protect, which worked fine, but I also could've started with Upper Hand from Lilligant, which overrides priority moves such as Fake Out and Ice Shard. You'll also see that I used After You a lot in this battle, but my opponent was easy to read for the most part. Though to his credit, he fought until the very end. Hard to not respect opponents who do that. Let me know of your favorite teams/builds in the comments and I'll try them out in an upcoming video! If you enjoy watching, please consider liking and subscribing! Thanks in advance! PS - I had a mental lapse and forgot that I couldn't switch out while under Sand Tomb. Haha whoops!
