Close-up of Miller whipping away tears STORYLINE President George W. Bush offered condolences to victims of violent storms and tornadoes that roared through several Southern states and said he would visit stricken areas on Saturday "with a heavy heart." Bush told reporters at the White House Friday that he had spoken to Alabama Governor Bob Riley on Thursday afternoon and Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue on Friday morning to express his condolences for the tragedy. Bush will visit areas hit by a violent storm system that spawned tornadoes that struck an Alabama high school, killing eight students. Students at the Enterprise High School in Alabama destroyed by a tornado, spoke on Friday of their shock at the events of the past few days. "Whenever that stuff was hitting me I was seriously thinking, I'm going to die," student Dilan Lewis told The Associated Press. "It was the most frightening thing in my life," he said. Another student told how one of her close friends had been killed when the roof was blown in. "It sounded like a train and everybody just started screaming. And it took all you could not to panic with everybody else," Devin Miller, a junior at the school said. "I never want to live through that again," she added. The White House said Bush would make two stops on Saturday, but his destinations were still being worked out with governors in the affected states. The White House has since sought to reassure residents - and the nation - that it is committed to recovery.
