The video summarises the main local activities developed in 2024 by 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰 𝘥𝘪 𝘊𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘻𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘢 𝘈𝘗𝘚 within the framework of the “𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆” programme: The first project realised was “𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗩𝗼𝘁𝗲? 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗜𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗰 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱”, co-funded under the 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 2025 call. The centrepiece of the project was a public event held on Wednesday, May 14th, 2025 at 𝘗𝘈𝘙𝘊 𝘗𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘤𝘩 𝘊𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘦. The event began with the screening of “𝗩𝗢́𝗧𝗢 𝗠𝗢̀𝗗𝗢,” a docufilm conceived and created by Enrico Budri and Andrea Virginia Fantoni as part of the 2024 GenE local activities. Following an interview with the filmmakers, two exceptional speakers took the stage: Cesare Baccheschi, a journalist and documentary maker, shared experiences of political participation in local contexts, highlighting challenges and narratives emerging from Tuscan urban peripheries; Matteo Giusti, a journalist and geopolitical analyst, addressed the theme of democracy and voting rights from a European and international perspective, linking local contexts to global scenarios. The final part of the event featured an open discussion with the audience, composed mainly of young people under 30, which sparked ideas and reflections on the relationship between citizenship, representation, and a sense of European belonging. The entire event was audio-recorded. The discussion was moderated by Lorenzo Chiaro, a young journalist from the youth magazine 𝘌𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢. In the weeks following the event, two in-depth interviews were recorded with the expert journalists involved in the project, and post-production began to transform everything into accessible digital content. The result is a 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿-𝗲𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝗱𝗰𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀, published and distributed on the CCC Spotify profile. The initiative aimed to strengthen the bond between youth and democratic participation, offering an accessible, multi-channel space for reflection on the future of Europe. In parallel, the group also began working on “𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁𝘀”, a project promoted by 𝘛𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳, also under the 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 2025 call. On May 25th, at the 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘢 𝘥𝘦𝘭 𝘗𝘰𝘱𝘰𝘭𝘰 in Settignano (Florence), a preparatory event of the project was held: a collective experiment involving many local organisations, including some of the young artists and activists from the GenE project. Through free labs and creative workshops, we explored a shared question: How can we redesign the spaces we inhabit daily? It was an opportunity to imagine, create, and care for common spaces. The project’s final public event took place on September 14th in via Francesco Bocchi (Florence), closed to traffic for the occasion: a day full of workshops, games, music, and dancing to reimagine safer, more livable, and sustainable urban spaces. For the occasion, our GenE group presented the workshop “Outside the Lines”, an urban drawing lab to envision the city we would like to see, starting from a simple yet powerful question: What would you wish your city to be like? On September 22nd, we participated for the third consecutive year in the 𝗥𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝗹 in Pontassieve, a project by 𝘗𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘢𝘮𝘢 𝘈𝘗𝘚 in collaboration with the Municipality of Pontassieve, held in the garden of “𝘗’𝘖𝘳𝘵𝘰 – 𝘚𝘰𝘸𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘌𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘊𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴”. The event featured talks, activities, and social gatherings to discuss crucial themes such as climate change, environmental resilience, the water crisis, and future challenges. For the occasion, we hosted the workshop “𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘂𝗻”, a hands-on experience with anthotype, an ancient photographic technique that uses natural pigments from flowers, leaves, and fruits to create images using sunlight. During the follow-up talk, we showcased the workshop results and shared reflections on how art and sustainability can intertwine to imagine new horizons.
