Community Immersion in Bayyo Bontoc, Mountain Province

Some people have this prejudiced judgment towards indigenous people, wherein they form irrational images of IPs -- either they think to less of them or just plain different. That is why, we decided to defy these misconceptions to be able to persuade them otherwise. Initially, our plan was to visit Sadanga, Mountain Province but along the way we encountered some challenges that made us decide not to push through. Luckily, we met some locals in Bontoc, Mountain Province that helped us find another place to visit. Bayyo is part of 16 barangays of municipality of Bontoc, province of Mountain Province. We ourselves able to visit their community and experienced their different cultures, rituals, tried their traditional food, learned how they communicate, knew the story of their place, hear stories and experience everything firsthand. Because of this, we encourage our fellow millennial to visit or immerse themselves in small communities. This is also to reduce judgment, misconceptions and for us to have a bigger understanding, appreciation and respect like these Igorots deserve.
