Also, reaching out to yoga studios to embroider for them can be another stream of revenue for your business. Here are the materials you need to embroider a yoga mat: A yoga mat 80/12 needles 2 sheets of tear-away stabilizer 2 sheets of clear topping A Mighty Hoop Tape Snips/Scissors Let’s discuss potential profit: We bought our yoga mat for about $17 at a local store, but you can probably find them cheaper at Amazon or wholesale. Then depending on the design, you can sell each mat for around $30-$55. When it comes to yoga mats, you can reach out to yoga studios and offer your services. You can even bring them an embroidered mat with their logo on it to see if they are interested. Since these studios probably sell their own mats, they may partner with you to customize mats with their logo. First, to start embroidering your yoga mat, place the bottom piece of the magnetic hoop on a table and then place the two tear-away stabilizers on top of the hoop. After that, insert the top piece of the mighty hoop and make sure to push down to give it that extra hold. Lastly, put two sheets of clear topping on top of the mat and then tape it down to make sure it doesn’t move. With digitizing, you want your density as high as possible, so the foam doesn’t stick out of the threads; we’ll set it to 0.1. For this design, we used our Chroma digitizing software, which you can learn more about in the link above. Today, we’ll be using the EM-1010, which is a 10-needle embroidery machine and is the smallest one we have. But, don’t let that fool you because it can even embroider car mats. Now let’s clip in our hoop to the machine and lock it in. Then we’ll turn it on and pick our design. If your design is not on the machine, all you have to do is transfer it from your USB to your machine’s memory. Once the design loads up and takes you to the home page, choose the correct hoop, press escape, and select your colors. Then, center your design and press the trace button. After choosing the hoop, I have to flip the design 180 degrees because the longer part of the mat will be facing the outside. Now, we’ll raise the speed to 1,000 stitches per minute. The design has 2,000 stitches and 2 trims, so it should only take about 13 to 14 minutes. Now press the start button and watch the machine go. Once it’s done, rip off the clear topping, take it off the machine and remove the hoops to tear off the stabilizer sheets. And there you have it! You now know how to embroider yoga mats. Hopefully, you can now add this item to your offerings and attract a whole new group of customers.
