In Episode 5, we shine the spotlight on our constructing an inner pocket, a process used on many of our most loved garments including The Ventile® Mac. Lenka Kosikova, Head Sample Machinist & Garment Technologist, explains how the process works: “First the tab is bagged out and the edge is top stitched. The jets are then topstitched to the required width and pockets are marked on facing in exact positions, where jets are attached to the facing. “Next, the jets are joined together with the pocket lining, in between these layers, the tabs are inserted into place. All parts of the pocket are stitched together, before corners are snipped and turned to ensure a sharp finish. The pocket bags are joined together (inside out) and French seamed. Next the pocket opening is edge stitched and bar tacked on each side, the branded copper stud fastening sits upright. Finally, pocket backs are bar tacked to the facing to ensure they are going to stay in place. The same process is applied to the other side pocket. Is a complicated process requiring exact precision.” Subscribe to our channel for complete ‘Behind The Seams’ access and more.
