In the Women in Science series, STARS EU demonstrates its commitment to the inclusive participation of women in scientific and technological fields. From 11 February (International Day of Women and Girls in Science) to 8 March (International Women's Day), we will share nine individual video portraits, each dedicated to a female researcher from one of the universities that make up the STARS EU alliance, whose work embodies the spirit of these international commemorations. Whether in cutting-edge technologies, public policy, social analysis or sustainable solutions, these scientists demonstrate the impact and potential of women in science. Michaela Weiss is Associate professor at the Department of English and American Studies at the Institute of Foreign Languages at the Silesian University in Opava, Czechia. She is also the vice-rector of the study and social affair. She teaches courses on English and American literature, Literary Theory and Criticism, and Creative Reading and Writing. Her main areas of interest include American Jewish literature, graphic novels, and women’s studies. She has published chapters concerning metamodern literary strategies, gender identities, graphic novels, and dystopias. She is currently working on a book Community, Geography, and Language in the Works of Irena Klepfisz.
