A production and assembly hall in Augsburg’s industrial park required complete renovation of the worn-out floor before new tenants could move in. The original subfloor was oil-stained, partially cracked and made up of an existing, over-used covering, but also in places of a mixture of new and old concrete substrates. Before the coating work could begin, cracks had to be milled and filled, and the surfaces cleaned and ground. The refurbishment led to an even, light-coloured floor that provides optimum conditions for industrial applications and all production activities associated with it, such as forklift traffic, warehousing, or the use of heavy machinery. Particular emphasis was placed on a universal property profile, which includes high durability, mechanical or chemical resistance and therefore a long service life, as well as cost-effectiveness. This means that the individual requirements of future tenants for the production hall can be met regardless of the type of use. The applied economical KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 5530 primer is suitable for industrial or commercial surfaces and withstands the mechanical stresses of scattered coatings in these areas. The universal KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 216 Universal serves both as a scratch coat and – when filled with quartz sand KLB-Quarzsand 0.3/0.8 mm – as a coating layer, which is applied over grain. The result is an economical, wear-resistant industrial flooring with tested slip resistance for heavy-duty use. If a surface protection system based on OS 8 is required, KLB-SYSTEM EPOXID EP 5530 can be used as an alternative primer (see System K1 KLB PARKING EP OS 8).
