Munro will come to appreciate the Native Americans, and be especially grateful for Big Snake. Alice and Hawkeye can at last formally declare their love for each other. Duncan will outgrow his English arrogance, and embrace White Doe’s love. Uncas, the last of the Mohicans, becomes the last true chief, recognized even by other tribes of the Delaware. Magua will reassemble and reunite all of the tribes of the Huron. The great battle between the Huron and Delaware will take place in a clearing. The Delaware will succeed in defeating the Huron and will pursue them all the way back to their camp. Yet, Magua will escape, dragging Cora with him over a thin rocky ledge. Uncas, Big Snake, Munro, Duncan, and Hawkeye follow in pursuit. Murno and Big Snake get mortally wounded in combat. Uncas, after the fight of his life with Magua, kills the chief of the Huron. Magua’s body will then plunge down a bottomless canyon.
