Hello :) This is the requested transcription I did of the Earth, Wind & Fire song "Runnin' ". This song originally comes from their 1977 album "All 'n All", This is a shorter version and was released on: 2012-06-12 . Verdine White was the bass player on this track. This transcription can be found at https://www.muzento.com under Advanced - Learning Songs subject. I have to admit this took a couple of listens for me to get in to. But once I started listening a little closer, wow! This is a pretty groovy tune! I had no idea EWF wrote these kind of songs? I just love the release section from bar 17. The rhythms are very cool :) This sounds like it this was a live recording. There's a real "jammy" feel to it, which I think was what the most challenging thing for me was to try and capture. It's a little tricky to rehearse something that was spontaneous. Try to think of the bar as having two halves in the beginning, and don't get lazy with the beat (like I found myself doing sometimes). Try to stay on top of the beat, and make the rhythms nice and crisp. Using open strings will help you get through this...especially in the Samba section ;) It's a bit of a workout to play along with in the "Samba" section, but there are some good things one can learn from it. Verdine really laid down a nice bass line.
