When you record a podcast using Skype, you need to buy extra equipment like a mixing board, multiple cables, condenser microphone with the XLR jack output and more. I RE-INTRODUCE to you, Google Hangouts/YouTube Live. Hangouts is overlooked when it comes to using the platform as a podcast recording alternative. In this video I'll talk with you about: • The Pros and Cons of Google Hangouts/YouTube Live for your podcast recording. • Whether the sound quality of Hangouts/YouTube Live is worth using for your podcast. •Describe the process of turning your video into an audio podcast using Adobe Audition. • How to get started if you decide to use Hangouts/YouTube live. • The learning curve to recording a podcast on the Hangouts platform. • Explore the different modes you can use to have the best quality sound from your Hangout. At the end of the day, using Google Hangouts/YouTube live is just another option to record you podcast if you don't want to go all-in on buying a mixing board and higher-end microphone. One thing that is kind of non-negotiable is the editing software. When you pull this video down from YouTube, you will need to separate the audio from the video. If you're using Audacity or Garage Band, I don't believe you will be able to separate the audio using those platforms. Instead, you will need to purchase software that will do it for you, but it isn't nearly as efficient as when you use Adobe Audition. This is why I recommend that you at least use Adobe Audition creative cloud for $20/month.
