On Monday, 31/3/2025. I set out with my brothers to show them one of my favorite spots. Upon arrival, the water was super low, Ive never seen the water that low at this spot. However, the working water on the sand bank at the back was looking extremely nice for Kob. On our first cast we set up a bait for Kob, but didn't have grapnel sinkers, resulting in our baits continually washing ashore. Non the less I looked over to the left and noticed a nice hole that will be filling with water on the incoming tide. I decided to take a rest and wait for the tide to push, as soon as I saw that hole filling up, I baited up using a 2/0 SSH circle hook, pink trident float, 25kg Maxima Ultra Green Hook line on a Bite Science swivel. Leader line was the trusted T-Line 48kg Mono. Bait of choice was freshly cut Redbait. First cast into the hole not waiting any longer that 2 minutes, the Grunter strikes, but did not know what hit him. Thereafter, I showed my brothers where to cast and it was fish on for all of us. Species caught within 1 Hour of the tide pushing was Grunter, 2x Black Tail, 4x Steen Bras, and a Monster Wilde Perd. We released most and kept the Grunter and 1x Black Tail for the Braai. Once again, this proves to show that where you cast is much more important that the conditions of the day. This was a crazy lekker day, and the spirit was high as we all had a catch. Rod of choice was once again my trusted Okuma Rock Away 3-6oz 15ft. This Rod has a way of getting those sinkers out between the bricks and just absorbing those head shakes.
