Synopsis 381: Power of having knowledge of the subtle, veiled and remote. Sutra on Samyama. Pravrutti. Pratkrushta, utkrushta Chitta vritti. Ethereal, sublime, noble state. Also called Daivi vritti. Has great heights as compared to mundane vrittis. Mangalya, Udattata, Shanta, Divya, Vitaraga, vishayavrutti etc are the predicates applicable. Pravrutti Alaka jnyata. Brightness, not marred by darkness. They are not by Aloka or darkness . Parisa is sparsha. They have a touch stone effect. They bring a transformation in whatever they touch. There is transmutation of their energies. Chitta gets enormous power of knowledge. It’s superhuman power which gives knowledge of the subtle. Because is is beyond human intelligence. This is one kind of knowledge, subtle perception, experience and understanding. Vyavahita jnanam is another. It is like knowing something that is covered in an opaque container. Knowledge that is veiled. Yogi gets X-ray comprehension to know this. Viprakrushna jnana. Eg., stars are often not visible because they are light years away. They are not visible. With Pravrutti Alokajnana, this kind of knowledge becomes possible for the yogi. Sometimes we all feel an elated state of mind, or incomparable contentment. For the yogi, the Pravruttis are engendered by the yogic process. They can be possible even when samadhi is not achieved. The touch stone effect can persist for a long time. The yogi’s mind then becomes Prasanna, Shanta, udatta, Mangal Maya. Adhyatmic knowledge tells us that the locus of such jnana is the heart and not the head. B.G: “I reside in the hearts of all “. Rajo- Tamo gunas are greatly diminished. Sukshma and vyavahita Buddhi. There are 7 heavenly and 7 infernal planes. Hence there can be suryasmyama… one of the 14 Bhuvanas. Jyotishmati pravrutti has aloka, luminosity, giving knowledge of the veiled and subtle. Adhyatma jnana needs Sheela or purity. Celestial bodies are all remote. The star proxima centuri is at an enormous distance from earth. All stars are light years away. Celestial and terrestrial plane is hence explained by Patanjali.
