How Does an Equilibar Back Pressure Regulator Work? This video uses schematics and technical animation to show the inner workings of Equilibar's novel dome-loaded multiple-orifice back pressure regulator. Unlike traditional valves and regulators, the Equilibar uses a flexible diaphragm as the only moving part, enabling it to provide frictionless and instantaneous control. The absence of sliding seals, springs and other moving parts eliminates hysteresis and other undesired effects. The novel technology enables the Equilibar to outperform the competition, particularly in applications with low flow rates, mixed phase fluids, corrosive media or extreme temperatures. It offers high precision and performs across wide flow rates and pressure ranges. To operate, simply load the Equilibar back pressure regulator with a pilot pressure equal to the desired back pressure. The back pressure regulator will hold the process pressure with a one to one ratio. The multi-orifice design allows the unit to control the pressure with a stability better than 0.2 percent with a flow range of one to 100,000. The technology is also well suited for vacuum applications. It is easily automated with electronic pilot regulators.
