History and Background Information: The Spitzingstrasse is part of the German Alpine Road (Deutsche Alpenstraße). It was initally built as a panorama road like the Sudelfeld, or Rossfeld roads. In its early days there were no trees hindering the sight from the top on the Schliersee. The Spitzingstrasse is characterized by fast chicanes an long corners giving this road a very dynamic and fast layout. At the end of the road there is a skiing area and a small skiing village located. The pass itself lays at 1129 meters above sea level. During weekends or holidays I wouldn´t recommend this road for motoring enthusiats since there a a lot of tourists, cyclists and a lot of traffic.
