An English Translation of Juseige with Commentary from a Lay Buddhist

As explained by Richard St. Clair on his website called True Shin Buddhism (http://trueshinbuddhism.blogspot.com/), Juseige comes from the Larger Sutra of Immeasurable Life. In that sutra the Bhiksu Dharmakara, who becomes Amida Buddha, declared his 48 Vows to the Buddha Lokesvararaja, expressing his intentions to become a Buddha himself and create a Pure Land where all suffering beings can be saved. After saying these Vows, Dharmakara recited verses known as Juseige in which he pledged to establish the most incomparable Vow in the world, become a great provider, save the poor and suffering, attain Buddhahood, and have his Name heard throughout the ten quarters of the universe. The translation used in this video can be found in a volume called "The Three Pure Land Sutras", from the English Tripitaka Translation Project of BDK (The Society for the Promotion of Buddhism).
