Continuing our skincare round up series, this time looking at vitamin c serums and sharing the worst and the best vitamin c serum for face and neck. Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where today we are continuing our skincare round up series here on the channel, this time looking at vitamin c serums and helping you work out which are the best and the worst vitamin c serums for face and neck. Vitamin C is one of the most powerful actives in your skincare routine and is wonderful as an antioxidant, brightening agent and is also proven to fade hyperpigmentation and tackle dark spots and discolouration. However as with all skincare ingredients there are the best vitamin c serums and the total fail which is what I want to cover in todays video. Vitamin C comes in two forms Ascorbic acid and vitamin c derivatives. I wanted to quickly cover off the benefits of both as I didnt talk about it in detail in the video Ascorbic or l-ascorbic acid - this is vitamin c in its pure form which delivers great antioxidant protection and is one of the quickest acting forms of the vitamin which will deliver fast results for brighter skin. The downside is ;-ascorbic acid can be sensitising to the skin meaning it is not the best for people with sensitive skin and also it is harder to layer into a skincare routine due to its low PH. Vitamin C derivatives - these take a little longer to work on the skin but will have some wonderful skin brightening benefits in the long term and they are less sensitising on the skin than ascorbic acid. Vitamin c derivatives are not suspended in a low PH so are easier to incorporate into a skincare routine but the effectiveness of them as an antioxidant is somewhat disputed so look out for one formulated with an additional antioxidant within the product.
