When a person hits rocks bottom the only way to go after is up. I am no exception. My story is about survival, homosexuality, self-loathing, death, acceptance, and love. Having lost all of my family I had to find a way to live, on my own, for myself. At the same time, I had to deal with issues from beyond the grave. The show must go on - and so did mine. John was born in Zimbabwe in 1978 and moved to South Africa in 1986. John was born a twin, but his brother passed away. John is a non-practising clinical psychologist and software engineer. He is openly gay and a member of the board of Accept LGBTI Cyprus. His roots hail from Paphos. He currently works and resides in Nicosia. He is fluent in Greek, English, Spanish, Afrikaans, French & Portuguese. He is conversant (but not fluent) in Hebrew, Turkish, Arabic & Italian. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
