June 5th WEBINAR Despite the amount of attention that post-consumer apparel textile waste gets in the media, post-industrial sources from a variety of textile sectors offer tremendous material value to the circular economy. They are already semi-aggregated and have the potential to be sorted more cost-effectively than post-consumer materials. So how do we create a more effective system for collecting and recycling post-industrial textiles? A part of the solution lies in advanced recycling technologies capable of processing a much wider index of materials than traditional mechanical recycling allows. We have invited three experts to give short presentations of their recycling technologies, which will be followed by a discussion amongst all webinar participants about the challenges and opportunities of recycling their post-industrial textiles. A brief introduction will also be given about the Accelerating Circularity Project (ACP) whose mission is to build more circular supply chains for recycling textiles back into textiles. Guest experts Unifi - Chad Bolick, Global Vice President Brand Sales Gr3n - Maurizio Crippa, Founder & CEO Lenzing - Michael Kininmonth, Project Manager Facilitator - James Ewell, Associate Director, Anthesis on behalf of the ACP Discussion Topics During the Session What are some of the advantages of advanced recycling processes? What level of purity do they require to produce valuable end products? What materials are ideal feedstocks? What are the constraints of these technologies? What’s currently happening to post-industrial textile waste? What mix of fiber types are available? How easy or hard is it to sort waste to boost fiber purity? What are current options for recycling these materials?
