You’ve CAN do it—let’s get canning! 💬 What are you most excited to can? Let me know below! 👇✨ If you’re new to canning, here’s a beginner-friendly shopping list of essential tools to help you get started: 1. Canning Jars & Lids ✅ Mason Jars – Choose pint, quart, or half-pint jars based on what you’ll be canning. ✅ Lids & Bands – Ensure you get the right size (regular or wide mouth). Lids are single-use, but bands are reusable. 2. Canner (Based on the Type of Canning) 🔹 Water Bath Canner – For high-acid foods like jams, jellies, pickles, and tomatoes. 🔹 Pressure Canner – Required for low-acid foods like meats, vegetables, and soups to ensure food safety. 3. Canning Tools & Accessories ✅ Jar Lifter – Safely removes hot jars from the canner. ✅ Canning Funnel – Helps pour liquids and food into jars without spills. ✅ Bubble Remover & Headspace Tool – Removes trapped air and ensures proper headspace. ✅ Lid Magnet or Tongs – Makes handling hot lids easier. ✅ Towels or dish drying mats to protect your counter tops as your jars cool down. 4. Additional Essentials ✅ Large Stockpot – For cooking your recipes to be canned. Note: Avoid aluminum or cast iron as they are “reactive” to acidic foods and will leave a metallic taste. Stainless steel, glass or well enameled pots are best. ✅ Pectin (for Jams & Jellies) – Liquid or powdered, depending on your recipe. ✅ Citric Acid or Bottled Lemon Juice – Helps maintain acidity levels for safe canning. ✅ Pickling Salt (Non-Iodized) – Essential for pickling to avoid cloudiness in brine. ✅ Vinegar (5% Acidity) – Used in pickling and some tomato canning recipes. 5. Storage & Organization ✅ Labels & Marker – To date and label jars for easy tracking. ✅ Jar Storage Rack or Shelf – Keeps your canned goods organized. 🔹 Shop the Essentials Here: Walmart Storefront https://walmrt.us/4hCO8i8 Amazon Storefront https://www.amazon.com/shop/doublehar... #CanningForBeginners #HomeCanning #FoodPreservation #HowToCan #BeginnerCanning #CanningSupplies #CanningBasics #Homesteading #SelfSufficiency #ShelfStableFoods #WaterBathCanning #PressureCanning #FoodStorage #Prepping #DIYCanning #youtube #subscribe #educational #homeschool #tutorial #stepbystep #learn #food #foodie #recipe #homemade #cooking #homestead #homesteading #canning #garden #gardening #growyourownfood #arkansas #food #foodrecipe #foodies
