Following in the footsteps of Major Saunders in 1944 I am going over the real history behind the largest bunkers ever built and their purpose. As stated by Saunders report it was certainly not as clear to him as we are told today. And it leads to a lot of interesting questions about these huge constructions that I will take you through. But also on the German side of the battle what caused these to be constructed in the first place, in the face of allied air operations, and constant bombings. Was operation Crossbow a failure that Hitler had calculated on? Did the Germans have a bigger plan with it, was there a tie in to the large rocket bunkers and more sinister research in Germany. Also Ill cover how the SS eventually took over the rocket programs and the infighting that slowed this project too. Also we will meet with the Mayor of Siracourt who is eager to share the history of the area and is working with the local villages and La Coupole to do just that and we may all be able to help him.
