Gospel Reading: Matthew 5:17–19 Wednesday of the 3rd Week of Lent Reflection: Today’s readings remind us of the importance of God’s commandments and the love behind them. In the first reading, Moses urges the people of Israel to observe the laws and teachings given by God. These commandments were not meant to burden the people but to guide them in living a life close to God. By following them, Israel would show wisdom and understanding to the nations and demonstrate that their God was truly near to them. The Responsorial Psalm praises the Lord for revealing His word and laws to His people. God’s word is a gift that teaches, guides, and protects those who follow it faithfully. In the Gospel, Jesus clarifies His relationship with the Law and the Prophets. He did not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. Every commandment finds its true meaning and completion in Him. Jesus calls His followers not only to respect God’s law but to live it sincerely and teach it to others through their example. During Lent, we are invited to reflect on how we live according to God’s word. The commandments are not merely rules but a path that leads us closer to God and helps us grow in holiness.
